With Labor Day behind us and the hustle and bustle of fall ahead, simplicity continues to be key when seeking out orGLAMic products for readers (and myself!) Among it’s plentiful collection jewelry, environmentally conscious company IJA Designs offers one of my favorite styles. The Small Clasped Bangle is chic and sleek and can be worn day in and out no matter what the occasion or wardrobe. This orGLAMic design studio is run on 100% renewable energy, purchases recycled metals and in turn also recycles all it’s scrap metals. If there is rehab for purses, I belong there. While I try to keep my consumption to a minimum (let’s keep it green, people!) it is nice to know that my splurges can also be eco-conscious purchases. Erin Templeton makes some of the most orGLAMic purses I’ve found. The Side Saddle, pictured above, is my favorite among the ten different styles available. The classic bucket bag is trendy once again, and while the bag shown above is made of buffalo hide, it is also available out of recycled leather otherwise destined for a landfill. As the days of summer amble along, add some classic Americana decor to your home with Pendleton. Known for their classic blankets and such, this company also offers this whimsical yet staid Horshoe Lamp and Shade. Recycled trotter horseshoes are hand-welded into these one-of-a-kind lamps that are topped with a handmade burlap shade. I think a pair of these would make excellent bedside lamps in a light-filled, stark, white room. While you’re browsing for orGLAMic wares, also take a peek at the delightful Riata and Stripe Easy Care blankets made of ‘eco-wise’ wool.

Nothing is more essential for back-to-school than having the right computer. The Apple MacBook Pro is one of the most orGLAMIC laptops. It is highly recycled, BFR-free, has reduced packaging, uses an LED-backlit monitor, and has longer-lasting battery power. Not only can you do your homework and access the internet easily, but you can chat with friends and study with each other (or more importantly, discuss each other’s outfits and hairstyles!) It is also lightweight and compact, so you can bring it with you everywhere. Click here to learn more about the eco-elements to the Macbook Pro, and here purchase this orGLAMic must-have. -AY

GreenSewn is upcycling at it’s finest. Strips of recycled, vintage, silk saris are carefully handsewn together to create beautiful scarves and wraps that can be worn an infinite number of ways. I would either wear these looped and draped elegantly around my neck or as a wrap to keep me warm on airplanes, but they can we worn around your head, as a shawl, or even around the waist or chest as a beach coverup. And in addition to offering eco-conscious wares, GreenSewn donates to Trees For The Future so that 10 trees are planted with every purchase! Lulu Frost

Lulu Frost jewelry is captivating. Designer Lisa Salzer creates one-of-a kind pieces from found period antiques including long-lost room numbers from The Plaza Hotel, cut steel shoe buckles from the 1860’s, keys, locks, escutcheons, chandelier crystal, watch fobs, rare victorian finds and more. As you can imagine (and see above!) each piece is special and beautiful in it’s own right. As I am one for big baubles against simple white T’s, the Honey Ryder Necklace from the Bond collection is a lighter, more upbeat version of my chunkier faves, making it the perfect summer alternative to my uniform. While clothing lines featured on orGLAMic are sparse (we are too darn picky!) Bodkin satisfies our eco-friendly design needs season after season. I am utterly obsessed with shorts and rompers this summer, hence the photo above, but the Spring/Summer 2010 collection is also filled with light, ephemeral dresses and tops of impeccable design. All of Bodkin’s offerings are made of sustainability-oriented fabrics including post-consumer recycled polyester, hand-loomed weaves from collectives in India, regenerated and recycled wool, fine organic cottons, and decades-old salvaged textiles.
