picture-8It’s hot and it’s coola…yes, I was just dorkily inspired by Katy Perry, but this LA weather is driving me insane!  The one thing that remains constant, no matter what the temperature, is the need to wear orGLAMic SPF every single day.  Coola offers organic sun protection in a variety of SPFs and formulas to please everyone.  Personally, I would slather on the unscented FACE SPF 30, but all the formulas are free of paba, parabens, phthalates and petroleum.  Made right here in the USA, all the streamlined packaging is recyclable and products are never tested on animals. To go orGLAMic while protecting your skin click here to find a store near you that carries Coola.

picture-31Despite many attempts out there for stylish, eco-friendly footwear most brands don’t meet my orGLAMic standards.  Yes, I am ridiculously particular about shoes, but these adorable vegan sandals from Olsenhaus make the cut!  My summertime staple, dressy sandals are an easy way to enhance everything from denim shorts to bikinis.  The nude and black coloring is right in step with fashion trends this summer (and this orGLAMic girls aversion to too much color!)  In addition to being cruelty-free and eco-friendly, Olsenhaus is also committed to donating and being involved with organizations such as Farm Sanctuary, PETA, the Humane Society and Greenpeace.  Click here to shop the Spring ’09 online collection of orGLAMic, vegan footwear.

towelBTC Elements is one of my favorite online resources for handpicked orGLAMic items.  A lot of the vendors are small designers and artists who share the same views on creating eco-conscious products.  I particularly like these Sweet hand printed tea towels that are handmade by artist Karen Young in New York.  They are made of a soy hemp blend and printed with water based non-toxic inks, and go from crisp to soft with wash and wear.  I like the hand-drawn orGLAMic designs, my favorite pictured above, that add a little bit of pizzazz without being garish. Click here to order a set of these orGLAMic towels that are perfect for kitchens or guest baths alike.

picture-1Keep lips smooth and orGLAMic with the 100% natural lip balms by Evolution of Smooth.  These balms, that come in stick form or in an adorable sphere shape, are 95% organic and petrolatum and paraben free.  Anti-oxidant rich Vitamin E, shea butter and jojoba oil work together to keep puckers kissable year round.  These orGLAMic finds are available in pomegranate-raspberry, vanilla bean and sweet mint and at $2.99 are some of the least expensive organic lip balms that I have found.  Click here to purchase online.

marcoKeep your kids orGLAMic with fashion-forward clothing by Sustainable Kids.  All the USA-made clothing is certified organic and stylish to boot!  My favorite item is the Marco Jacket, pictured above.  Made of hemp and organic cotton it still has high-end detailing such as button front chest pockets and a velvet lined collar.  With each item purchased, Sustainable Kids donates $1.50 to help build housing for homeless children through the Hands and Feet Projects Children’s Village in Haiti.  Also, with every orGLAMic purchase one receives a donation box with shipping paid for, to encourage children and parents to donate a small item such as small toys, books and new personal care items to the Hands & Feet Project.  Click here to go orGLAMic and make a difference with your purchase today.

It is so exciting to see companies celebrating Earth Day (tomorrow, April 22nd) in full force this year!  While I would love to list all the amazing events going on in cities nationwide, we will continue to focus on one orGLAMic product daily and hope that you’ll check out the sites run by Earth Day Network, Tree Hugger, Planet Green to find how you can help celebrate Earth Day orGLAMically!

davidb1You may already have heard about Kate Hudson’s collaboration with her hairstylist to create David Babaii for WildAid.  Well, with summer having arrived early in Los Angeles, it’s time to put some of these orGLAMic products to use.  I love the Bohemian Beach Spray, pictured above, which does a great job at recreating that beachy textured hair look.  It contains sea salt from the Dead Sea to naturally enhanced texture; mineral rich volcanic ash from the South Pacific for increased volume; and a trio of blue algae, mango and kiwi for hydration.  In addition 10% of  the orGLAMic line’s profits are donated to WildAid’s global wildlife conservation organization.  Click here to order online and take advantage of a special deal that David Babaii for WildAid is doing in honor of Earth Day  and to celebrate their recent 2009 Beauty Buy Award from InStyle Magazine!
