This week’s installment of MANLY MONDAYS is for all of you athletes out there, or for those of you that just want to play the part.  Adidas makes it easy with their line of eco-conscious orGLAMic footwear.  The Superstar 2 Grun Shoes, pictured above, are a fun, eco-conscious version of the Superstar shoe, a basketball shoe that has been around since 1969.  While it was difficult to find the exact eco-specs of this style, many of the shoes from the line have vegetable-tanned leather, partly recycled EVA midsoles, and recycled materials used in the outsole.  Either way, it is clear that these shoes are a step in the right direction (horrible pun intended).  Click here to buy a pair of these orGLAMic kicks.

There is no better solo activity than snuggling up to read while it rains outside…and rains…and rains.  GrandinRoad makes this comfy pastime orGLAMic with their Southport Eco Suede Chair.  Every yard of the 100% polyester micro-suede fabric contains the equivalent of one recycled water bottle and looks superbly chic while doing it.  I love the sleek design of this orGLAMic chair and could easily see it in my bedroom’s reading corner (and confession, where my clothes tend to pile up).  Click here to buy this eco-conscious chair and here to check out GrandinRoad’s new collection of outdoor furniture made of FSC- and IBAMA- certified wood and LED outdoor light globes.

Yes, I still have rain on the brain this week, and I am happy to report that my longtime favorite wellies are in fact orGLAMic!  That’s right, Hunter boots, which many of you have been sporting (or coveting) for years are eco-conscious and as chic as ever.  Made of 100% recyclable materials, these durable, long-lasting boots (available in 10 colors for men, women and children) can be fully recycled when they finally meet their last day.  In fact, you can send your old pair to the following address to make sure they are properly handled: Dunlop Footwear Company LTD, Hazeldene Road, Liverpool, L92BA, UK.  Until then, click here to purchase these orGLAMic classics.

Keep your lips moisturized all year long with this orGLAMic lip balm by Denver-based Love + Toast.  The feisty Gin + Lime flavor pictured above sounds like the perfect refreshing kick to me.  This paraben-free balm contains organic extra virgin olive oil, organic jojoba oil, beeswax, shea butter, aloe vera, vitamin E and natural flavor – but if a cocktail on your lips isn’t quite your thing (gasp!) then check out the Cherry Lemonade, Lemon Mint, Prickly Pear, Star Anise, or Vanilla Chai options.  Available at beautyhabit.com, click here to purchase these orGLAMic lip balms and here to browse the natural handcreams and perfumes as well.

As it pours cats and dogs here in Los Angeles on this MANLY MONDAY, I can’t help but reminisce about sunshine-filled days spent biking around Venice Beach last summer.  In 2010 I am going to try to up the ante with orGLAMic custom bicycle from Organic Bikes.  The Dylan bike, pictured above, is the first model being released by Organic Bikes and is made of a very cool-looking (and eco, of course!) bamboo frame that I would love, love, love to ride.  The bike, which also features 100% recycled alloy frame lugs and chainstay tubing, has several options for colors, seats, grips and handlebars, in order to fully customize your uniquely orGLAMic purchase.  Click here to contact the company and purchase your very own today.
