This Manly Monday post features preppy-chic kicks from The People’s Shoe.  Hand-crafted in Eastern China under strictly regulated conditions, these orGLAMic sneakers come packaged in a 90% post-consumer waste reusable tote made of plastic bags collected off the streets of Bali.  In 2010 The People’s Shoe is also donating 1% of gross revenue to 1% For The Planet, and looking ahead, the company’s next line is set to incorporate elements such as organic canvas and laces, non-toxic glues, natural dyes and nickel-free eyelets.  I think the white and navy shoe pictured above are great for a laid-back, orGLAMic, summertime look, but there are several different choices available by clicking here to purchase.

If a dog is a man’s best friend, than Molly Mutt is an orGLAMic man’s best friend.  Keep your BFF happy with these eco-friendly, chic dog bed duvets by this California-based company.  I adore the Title Track Dog Duvet show above and while it may not be the most appropriate Manly Monday selection, I thought I would show you the pattern I personally placed an order for.  While not made of organic cotton (yet…) these pouches are designed to be stuffed with items you already own, such as old dog bed filler, ratty blankets, or clothing that even Goodwill won’t take!  This upcycling keeps waste out of landfills and helps repurpose materials otherwise destined for the dump.  Click here to shop the entire eco-minded collection.

While the ladies dazzled at last night’s 82nd Annual Academy Awards, the men definitely stepped up to the plate as well (Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Bateman…must I go on?!)  Today’s Manly Monday post will have you looking Oscar-worthy and orGLAMic in a look by Simon Carter.  Many of the London-based designer’s beautiful tailored suits and tuxedos are made using EcoGir, a 100% recyclable fabric made of recycled PET bottles.  About 30 bottles go into the making of one of these suits, and whether you are hitting a red carpet or just a wedding, Simon Carter is sure to land you on the best-dressed list.  Click here to browse the orGLAMic men’s clothing collection.

CORRECTION: EcoGir and Simon Carter are separate companies that recently collaborated to create an orGLAMic tuxedo for Jason Mraz’s Grammy appearance.  The EcoGir line includes suits that are made from recycled fabric originally created from recycled PET (plastic) bottles and from 100% organic cotton or organic wool.  For more info on EcoGir click here.

This week’s installment of MANLY MONDAYS is for all of you athletes out there, or for those of you that just want to play the part.  Adidas makes it easy with their line of eco-conscious orGLAMic footwear.  The Superstar 2 Grun Shoes, pictured above, are a fun, eco-conscious version of the Superstar shoe, a basketball shoe that has been around since 1969.  While it was difficult to find the exact eco-specs of this style, many of the shoes from the line have vegetable-tanned leather, partly recycled EVA midsoles, and recycled materials used in the outsole.  Either way, it is clear that these shoes are a step in the right direction (horrible pun intended).  Click here to buy a pair of these orGLAMic kicks.
