Vie

vie2Vie makes me happy.  Not only does the eco-boutique have the most amazingly edited collection of truly orGLAMic clothing, but as the store transitions into it’s latest incarnation, Vie Public Relations, everything in the store is up to a whopping 60% off!  While I’m sad to see the boutique go, store owner Rachel Hurn-Maloney has her pulse on the eco-movement and her PR company is sure to make a splash when it launches this summer.  In the meanwhile, I will soothe my sadness with the most orGLAMic studded grey pencil skirt from my favorite eco-designers at Larsen Grey that I bought at the boutique last night at their wildly successful Reccess-Is-On event.  Swing by to purchase everything from lingerie to denim on sale, before everything goes!  8032 West 3rd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90048

picture-2With all the eco-events around Los Angeles, it is sometimes challenging to provide new and innovative drinks for guests.  At the EcoStiletto Dress for Success party at Intuition last night, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the cashew juice cocktails on hand.  That’s right cashew juice is really good and uniquely orGLAMic!  O.N.E. now offers the nutrient-packed beverage, derived from the fruit of the cashew fruit, in their eco-friendly, recyclable Tetra-Paks.  Tetra Pak cartons require five times less energy than their plastic counterparts, and the O.N.E. plant runs on renewable energy sources so it’s officially carbon neutral.  Click here to find out more about this eco-conscious line of drinks.

btcTorn between saving money and stimulating the economy?!?  Well now you can do both with the fantastic sale on orGLAMic wares on the BTC Elements website.  One of the many hidden treasures is this swing coat designed by Emily Katz.  The coat is made of 100% organic cotton fleece and is made in the good ol’ U-S-of-A (Portland, Oregon to be exact).  I love both the simple orGLAMic design and the fact that it would be an equally excellent topper to both jeans or a cocktail dress.  Originally $158 this orGLAMic coat is currently on sale for only $38!  All you have to do is click here to purchase.

wipesFrom designer suits to baby wipes, you never know what I’ll feature next here on orGLAMic.  These wipes by Nature Babycare are made from biodegradable wood pulp that is sustainably harvested from the company’s own Scandinavian forests.  Instead of chemicals, they use aloe vera and purified water fresh from the lakes for softness.  These hypo-allergenic wipes are 100% alcohol and chlorine-free and come in 100% biodegradable packaging based on natural chalk.  I like the simple orGLAMic packaging, and the fact that these wipes are easy to take on the road.  Baby-free?  Consider these for your glove compartment or on your next camping trip.  Click here to purchase these and other orGLAMic products from Nature Babycare.

versace2With the eco-movement continuing to spread, it is easy for label-loving shoppers to go green these days as well.  Even Versace has jumped on the eco-bandwagon with this Versace Collection Organic Two-Button Sportcoat, pictured above.  Made out of a bamboo-based rayon, men can look still look sleek and runway ready without depleting our earth’s resources in this orGLAMic find.  I love the dark navy tick as it imparts a little bit of whimsy to an otherwise classic sportcoat.  If you order this coat through Nordstrom.com the shipping is free, so click here to save some green while going green.

abba2While orGLAMic sometimes acts as my wish list (hint, hint, I have a birthday coming up soon!), there are also amazing eco-friendly items that I use in my daily life that I like to pass along to readers.  I use Abba’s Pure Detox once a week to remove styling-product buildup deep cleanse my hair and scalp.  I consider it the orGLAMic version of an old fave, Bumble & Bumble’s Sunday Shampoo.  It works wonders using molasses and baking soda instead of harsh chemicals usually found in similar products, and like all Abba products, Pure Detox is also 100% vegan and free of synthetic dyes.  Click here to check out the entire orGLAMic line (over 30 specially formulated products.)

corticaWhile the Los Angeles sun quickly came and went, as I was laying out getting a healthy dose of vitamin D yesterday I was inspired to hunt for a durable, eco-friendly chaise lounge.  Brooklyn-based designer Daniel Michalik came to my rescue with the Cortica Chaise Lounge.  This orGLAMic lounge chair is made of 100% reclaimed cork (discard from the bottle-stopper industry) and non-toxic marine grade adhesive (okay, and a smaaaaall amount of polyurethane.)  Cork is renewable material, it is lightweight, naturally waterproof and even buoyant!  It is also impervious to rot and mold, so can be used indoors our outdoors for years to come. For more info on this lounge chair, and other of Daniel’s orGLAMic work, click here.
